Providence Health & Services Chaplain (0.0 On-Call / Variable) in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Chaplain (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to provide services as part of an on-call rotation for both Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center and Providence Milwaukie Hospital.

In this position, you will:

  • Provide spiritual and emotional support, guidance, and crisis intervention to patients, their families, guests, volunteers, caregivers, and physicians.

  • Partake in ethical decision-making, document care and interact with patients and their families.

  • Provide services as part of an on-call rotation for both Willamette Falls and Milwaukie Hospitals. Candidates should be within a 30-minute response time to either location.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity or related field

  • Certification by National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) -or- Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) -or- National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) -or- Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (CASC)

  • Completion of board certification within 2 years of hire for certification eligible clinical chaplain candidates

  • Documentation of current ecclesial endorsement or support of sponsoring religious group
