Providence Health & Services Dietary Unit Host Supervisor in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Dietary Unit Host Supervisor (1.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable shift) to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.
In this position, you will:
Supervise day-to-day operations of patient meal delivery and service.
Supervise unit hosts assigned to Nursing units and delivery personnel who transport food from the kitchen to the patient floors.
Assure process of menu ordering through delivery of meals and snacks to post meal activities meet department standards.
Assure unit host activities and patient comfort services are performed to Department standards.
Assure employees are trained in all aspects of department and hospital operations pertinent to their jobs.
Motivate, reward, discipline, and evaluate employees under span of control.
Manage integration of Dietary services with Nursing unit operations collaboratively with Patient Dining Service Manager.
Monitor and refines processes that lead to increased unit efficiency and enhanced patient comfort and care.
Assure regulatory processes occur and are documented as designated.
Assist Nurse managers, nursing team and Patient Dining Service Manager with successfully managing operational aspects of Nursing units as it relates to the procurement, storage, and serving of foods and supply items.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid County Health Department Food Handlers Certificate or ServSafe Certification at the time of hire
Serve-Safe certification within 3 months employment
3 years in hospital, retail, or hotel food and nutrition service departments with progressive supervisory and managerial responsibility
Experience in supervision of a large ( 15), diverse, and decentralized staff
Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to communicate, document practices, write evaluations and provide direction and instructions
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of a certified Dietary Manager course and/or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in food and nutrition and/or food management
2 years of experience in areas of responsibility that include the demonstration of successful customer service relationships and effective interactions with patient care teams, managers, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and Nursing Administration
Experience working with food production/diet software programs (computrition)
Experience writing and developing employee job descriptions, and operational service standards
Experience with employee training, coaching, and writing and presenting corrective action and employee performance reviews
