Providence Health & Services Lab Assistant 3 - Float Pool in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Lab Assistant 3 (1.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Office Park in Portland, OR.
**This is a position that will travel to all Oregon Region locations, starting with the Portland Service Area and with time being available for locations such as Newberg, Seaside, etc.
The shifts for this role do vary and will include early am, day, swing and graveyard.
In this position, you will:
Be responsible for the accurate and timely application of a variety of biomedical laboratory techniques including pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical specimen analysis and/or disbursement of laboratory data and patient results.
Monitor and maintain inventory supplies, maintain workflow and communication, and provide clerical assistance to the department.
Be responsible for a variety of instrumentation maintenance and general quality control checks for the department.
Work with acute care and outpatient caregivers, vendors, consultants and other laboratory services staff in performing their duties.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and competency with numerous federal, state and other regulatory body compliance and safety regulations.
Perform multiple tasks and use computer applications, which evidences the complexity of the job.
Think independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Provide superior Service Excellence, utilizing good judgment that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians and Providence Health & Services (PH&S) staff.
Be expected to possess an understanding of the PH&S and the Portland Service Area Laboratory goals and strategies.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of industry related experience from an equivalent high volume, acute care laboratory performing high complexity testing
Demonstrated outstanding Service Excellence experience
Proven reliability and dependability
Demonstrated computer proficiency
Excellent telephone and other verbal and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Associates or Bachelor of Science degree
2 years of college with courses in biological sciences, anatomy and medical terminology
Certification from an approved government agency or nationally recognized professional organization (e.g. American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), etc.)
