Providence Health & Services RN - Telephone Advice in Beaverton, Oregon


Providence is calling a RN - Telephone Advice (0.7 FTE, Days) to Providence Murray Business Center in Beaverton, OR.

In this position, you will:

  • Be responsible for the interactive process that occurs over the telephone with the patient that identifies the nature and urgency of the patient’s healthcare needs and then determines appropriate disposition.

  • Schedule an appointment as the patient’s condition requires, answer questions, and provide health education in relation to the call.

  • Accurately document the encounter with the patient for continuity of care.

  • Facilitate care that is based on the nursing process, evidence-based guidelines and is consistent with Oregon and Washington’s Nurse Practice Act.

  • Utilize a broad range of general nursing knowledge and expertise.

  • Be proficient in using Microsoft Office products and multiple computer applications.

  • Collaborate with all members of the healthcare team.

  • Be accountable for personal behavior and ongoing professional behavior and development.

The Triage Service Center serves patients in a fast-paced, challenging, multi-customer telephone call center that operates 24/7.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Current, unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Current unencumbered Washington RN license or must obtain within 6 months of hire

  • Must obtain other required nursing state licensures within 6 months

  • 2 years of nursing experience as an RN

  • Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office products, and electronic communication systems

  • Ability to type 30 wpm

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's of science in Nursing, required for newly hired RN's as of 2018.

  • Ambulatory Nursing Certification

  • 5 years of nursing experience as an RN

  • Telephone triage experience

  • Progressive leadership experience
