Providence Health & Services ER Clinical Data Analyst in Milwaukie, Oregon
Providence is calling an ER Clinical Data Analyst (1.0 FTE, Days) at Milwaukie Mob in MIlwaukie, OR.
We are seeking an ER Clinical Data Analyst that provides data support, information support and technical support to the Providence Health Services Oregon Emergency Departments (ED), ED Quality Committees and ED quality improvement projects. This role supports the gathering of data for the ED specific and reports information to ED Oregon Regional Director. This position will actively participate in local and statewide ED quality management and regulatory/accreditation activities and projects as assigned. Provides in-depth statistical and analytical support for nursing quality, patient safety goals, and the organization's goal of nursing excellence. Responsible for planning and on-going coordination of the current database design, including extensive database management, statistical analysis, data interpretation/evaluation and reporting/presentation to support clinical practice and organizational priorities of the Emergency Department. Directly supports a number of improvement projects through assistance in developing outcome measures, methodology and data analysis. Works collaboratively with users of clinical information systems to enhance data query reports. Produces graphic data displays to meet ongoing benchmark requirements.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Design, coordinate, and manage complex databases and data management tools that are flexible, efficient and easy-to-use. Promotes staff utilization of these databases.
Perform advanced statistical analysis and interpretation. Prepare reports and presentations, both written and graphic, within established timelines for ongoing Magnet outcome requirements.
Coordinate and perform data collection activities related to site-specific focus studies, and quality improvement projects as requested.
Continually evaluate and refine on-going data collection activities, reports and presentations to assure data integrity and to best meet the requirements of the data‘s end-users.
Assist nursing department managers and team leaders in developing appropriate and effective methodologies and data collection activities and in preparing effective and meaningful reports/presentations related to their quality improvement activities. Assist staff in the appropriate use of continuous quality improvement tools.
Develop and design advanced reports and automated reporting from the most appropriate systems. Develop standard reports to be refreshed by department administrative assistants. Develop processes and formats to provide on-line access to reports.
Mentor team leaders and managers on use of databases and other applications, making recommendations for hardware and software.
Maintain project assignments and responsibilities, track project progress, and monitor timelines.
Assure confidentiality and security of data and reports.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years experience in related industry (research, information technology) or equivalent
Experience in relational database query and management and preparation in complex reports and graphic from queried data
Experience working with microcomputers in a Windows environment
Computer applications experience in: relational database design, data manipulation and reporting (Access, Crystal Reports, DSS, Business Objects, EPIC): graphic presentation of data and processes (Excel, Power Point, Visio, Control Charting software); word processing (MS Word)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Coursework/Training in computer science
1 year experience in healthcare setting
