Providence Health & Services Compensation Consultant in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Compensation Consultant, Temporary to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA or Seattle WA or Portland OR or Irvine CA.
We are seeking a Compensation Consultant for a 12 month temporary position. This position is eligible for full Providence St Joseph Health benefits. This position will assist in the development, analysis and ongoing administration of various Providence St Joseph Health compensation programs. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates positions based upon job descriptions and on-site audits using established systems and market data, determines grades and salary ranges, and prepared documentation records of the analysis and recommendations. Interprets regulatory guidelines, and collective bargaining agreements for compensation related items. Conducts data collection and analysis for special projects. Develops compensation recommendations and costing. Completes compensation surveys and market analysis. Performs reclassification analysis and processing and determines the FLSA status of each position.
Essential Job Functions:
Conducts and completes salary surveys, and analyzes results for market competitiveness. Recommends necessary adjustments, and analyzes costs of proposed adjustments.
Works in collaboration with department leadership to design, develop and implement uniform compensation practices (such as policies, procedures and guidelines).
Researches market data and selects appropriate external benchmarks. Reviews and determines appropriate internal benchmarks. Ensures supplemental information, organizational charts, and other necessary data to properly evaluate positions is compiled. Prepares cost analysis and classification and pay grade recommendations. Maintains reports and summaries of results.
Partners and consults with Human Resources strategic partners to support core leaders who are creating or revising positions to provide guidance on the development of job descriptions to support the business strategy. Ensures that any needed supplemental information (e/g. organizational charts, financial and operations data, and other necessary scoping information) is compiled in preparation for the job evaluation process. Conducts the job evaluation process. May revise and update job descriptions or request revisions to clarify or enhance the quality and consistency of descriptions.
Serves as a resource and consultant to HR team members, core leaders and caregivers relative to compensation policy and systems, wage and hour guidelines, interpretation/application/resolution of pay matters.
Demonstrates positive working relationships with individuals at all levels within the organization. Keeps both Human Resources and leadership staff informed and updated on compensation initiatives, from small reclassifications requests to complete revisions of base pay program.
Maintains and updates compensation systems and/or databases. Prepares reports using report writing programs and audits reports for accuracy and appropriateness based upon policies and guidelines. May maintain job class masters and wage & salary masters for each entity and update as necessary.
Coordinates with payroll and HRIS to implement pay changes for contract adjustments. Ensures new ranges, job descriptions and rates are updated.
Participates in professional and/or research activities to keep current of changes in legislation, applicable state/federal laws, regulations, rules or guidelines.
Provides support and analysis to projects related to compensation issues, which may include supporting labor relations teams during union negotiations.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Social Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years related compensation experience to include job evaluation methodology and principals of wage/salary administration. May also consider a combination of compensation and general HR experience that includes data collection and analysis, working knowledge of compensation systems, wage & hour laws and exempt classifications.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation.
