Providence Data Engineer II in Portland, Oregon
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Data Engineer II to our location in Portland, OR.
We are seeking a Data Engineer II that will ingest and transform strategically important population health data in our Azure cloud environment. The Data Engineer will develop de-duplication, normalization and source/target mapping scripts to integrate data from payers, provider systems and third parties. He or she will assist in database design and algorithm improvement (e.g. patient matching algorithms). The Data Engineer will work closely with our Informatics Data Engineers and help establish the entire project life cycle and analyze large amount of raw information to find patterns, undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data using object oriented programing and Azure cloud tools. The Data Engineer will be responsible for maintaining cloud Datawarehouse (Snowflake, Synapse), data ingestion and development using Azure Databricks, Python, Pyspark and SQL, Azure Data Factory and otherAzure cloud tools available.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Strong knowledge of Azure Cloud environment
Advanced Object Oriented Programming Skills in Python and Pyspark
Advanced SQL skills including stored procedures, triggers and advanced functions
Should know the best practices using tools like Databricks, Azure Data Factory and other Azure cloud tools
Strong knowledge of relational database design principles; performance tuning, indexing and compression, transaction management and partitioning
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathmatics or a related field or equivalent educ/experience
3 years experience using Databricks
2 years Advanced Object Oriented programming skills (Python)
Strong verbal communication and listening skills
Friendly and service-oriented
Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
2 years experience working in Azure Cloud Environment
2 years Healthcare data experience with payer eligibility and claims
Highly thorough and dependable
