We are seeking a Exercise Physiologist - Heart Clinic Gateway that will be responsible for administering cardiac stress tests, including: treadmill stress, stress echocardiograms, nuclear medicine treadmill stress, and nuclear medicine pharmacological stress. Responsible for above procedures and processing patient data with clinical judgment using a variety of information systems while facilitating clear patient education regarding their cardiac care, medications, disease process/prevention, risk factors, cardiac procedures and diet. The position is responsible for recognizing and responding immediately and appropriately to potential emergency situations that arise, and making clinical decisions in regards to electrocardiography, safety, contraindications to testing, and test termination. Other functions may include escorting rooming patients, performing holter/event monitor applications and recordings, and providing care as directed by a provider. Potential variability in work schedule between Cardiology locations.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Preparation of patient for stress testing procedure, including patient interviews, obtaining medical history, obtaining patient consent and signatures, and conducting patient teaching related to procedure including risks and complications
Administer stress testing procedures; exercise stress tests, nuclear (treadmill or pharmacological) stress tests and exercise echoes
Assist with patient care, including observation, reporting, and taking and recoding vital signs. Utilizes judgment in taking appropriate action
Perform 12 Lead EKG
Perform cardiac monitor hook-ups, downloads and edits cardiac monitor transmission
Respond to emergent/crisis situations utilizing all available equipment to assist in stabilization of patient. Performs ACLS under the direction of a Provider
Application of BLS measures in case of emergency and application of ACLS algorithms in such cases if Provider is providing direct supervision
Perform regular inspection of all equipment, in accordance with departmental and hospital policies for operation and safety. Ensures proper function and maintenance before beginning procedures
Follow up with appropriate personnel for equipment needs and repairs when appropriate
Able to work effectively and collaboratively utilizing good interpersonal skills in the care team. Assure smooth patient hand-offs between care teams when appropriate
Prescription Refills, Drug Prior Authorizations, Chart Prep and Patient Rooming
Orient and trains new staff and/or students
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or related field
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within three (3) months of hire
ACSM Certification or any certification by CCI within three (3) months of hire
Advanced EKG Interpretation skills
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Six (6) months of Experience performing stress tests
Three (3) years In outpatient Cardiac Services
