We are seeking a Family Education Coordinator - Swindells St Vincent that will be responsible for oversight and implementation of parent education services provided by the Swindells Center. This position reviews evaluations and logistical data to identify topics and presenters of interest to families of children with disabilities. The position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating multiple curricula; informational share fair events, local and national speaker events. These classes and events are conducted throughout the State of Oregon and Southwest Washington. This position may require occasional early morning, evening and weekend work.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Review evaluation data to identify topics and presenters for parent education classes that will meet parental needs

  • Monitor and communicate with other community resources for parent education to identify gaps in service and avoid duplication of services

  • Research, prepare, and develop curriculum for parent education classes and workshops, including preparation of materials to be distributed to parents at classes

  • Research and develop local expert and national speaker events, including oversight of 3rd party contracts (speakers, vendors)

  • Present on-site and community-based classes and workshops

  • Learn and teach curriculum as identified to parents of children with disabilities

  • Identify appropriate local community providers to offer classes and workshops on-site and coordinate these events

  • Oversight of informational share fairs. Identify and assist in recruiting agencies to participate, making logistical arrangements, and presenting information at the fair on the services available through the Swindells Center

  • Coordinate facilities, and user needs for each of the classes and workshops offered

  • Inform and educate parents of Swindell's services and educational opportunities, this includes collaboration and communication with multiple state, county and local services and agencies to promote attendance and participation

  • Assist Director in implementation of evaluation tools for community education programs and provide documentation of program outcomes

  • Maintain accurate documentation of educational programs in an electronic database

  • Create and provide reports and data as requested

  • Be knowledgeable about resources for parents of children with disabilities and provide information and referrals as needed

  • Participate in appropriate community meetings and committees to develop and maintain community partnerships

  • Effectively and consistently increase community awareness of the Swindells Center: communicating about the Center and its programs in a way that is compelling and on message

  • Provide training and support for fellow staff members as requested

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Special Education, or other health service related fields -OR- four (4) years combined education and experience in a related field

  • Valid driver's license

  • Three (3) years of experience in working with parents of children with disabilities

  • One (1) year of experience in the development of educational programs for adult learners in group settings

  • Experience working in collaboration with a variety of agencies and programs
