We are seeking a Financial Coordinator - Neurological Specialties Se who will be a part of a team who handles the direct interaction with patients and their families during difficult times, providing financial insurance and payment information to assist them in planning and managing their account balances related to specific services performed in the clinic. The Financial Coordinator educates patients on the various sponsorship programs available to them. The Financial Coordinator is the liaison to the PBO/RBO and the sponsoring hospital
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Interview patient/guarantor to capture and understand key financial data to determine the patient's general financial situation and ability to pay for balances due or qualify for financial assistance
Review and interprets billing statements, charge information, private or government insurance benefits, and other related information (for multiple hospitals, clinics and insurance companies) while resolving account balances
Assist customers in contacting third party providers or insurance companies to resolve issues as appropriate
Provide follow-up on internal and external customer calls in a timely manner to ensure comprehensive and complete service in meeting patients needs
Facilitate completion of Medicaid and OHP applications, eligibility and receipt by the state, with designated timelines
Provide education regarding charges and billing information to patients or insurance companies
Escalating charge discrepancies as appropriate to PBO/RBO contacts for care department review
Resolve complex patient issues and concerns that present at the on-site office, and communicates with the PBO in order to help resolve issues, as appropriate
Notify PBO personnel of any re-billing, charge adjustments, refunding or collection intervention that needs to occur
Negotiate payment arrangements
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma -OR- GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three (3) years experience in a Business Office, preferably in a financial/billing position
Experience with medical and health plan terminology, CPT codes, ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Experience with medical specialty
Knowledge in reimbursement of health care accounts from insurance companies
