We are seeking a Food Service Assistant - Tower Cafe who will provide a high level of customer service for patients, family members, volunteers, physicians and staff. The Service Excellence Standards of Behavior guidelines must be adhered to at all times. Must have comprehensive knowledge of, and be compliant with, specified regulatory requirements, and food safety and sanitation regulations for food service in a health care environment. Proper sanitation procedures and practices must be following to assure the cleanliness and sanitation of ware-washing, service-ware, equipment in the work area. Adhere to County/State Health department, hospital, and department standards, policies and procedures at all times.

In this position you will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

  • Meet the Service Excellence Standard of Behavior/Providence Experience

  • Have interaction and interpersonal relation with the public, fellow employee, supervisor, and other department employee must be positive/professional at all time, regardless of situation

  • Report to work as scheduled and on time per hospital policy

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information per policy

  • Support and contribute to effective safety and risk management effort by adhering to policy and procedure, maintaining a safe environment, promoting accident prevention, and identifying and reporting potential liabilities

  • Seek ways to improve quality of service provided and shares ideas with management

  • Comply with Providence Health & Service, and departmental policy and procedure

  • Attend departmental meeting and in-service per policy

  • Perform physically demanding, repetitive duty for extended period of time. Performing duty require one to be highly mobile and work on your feet continuously while meeting time sensitive delivery standard and goal

  • Prepare order/request for food, beverages, garnishes and accompaniments per instruction for patient and customer

  • Assure the delivery of hot, aesthetically pleasing and nutritionally correct meals to patient

  • Assure presentation of food/beverage is attractive and aesthetically pleasing for all customer

  • Place accurate and correct portion of food, beverages, and service ware on customer and patient's tray as dictated by menu, portion standard and diet order

  • Load, deliver and retrieve cart to and from specified nursing unit in a timely manner according to standard

  • Have ability to walk long distance repetitively

  • Have ability to learn location within the hospital to deliver and retrieve cart and provide catering service

  • Load dirty dishes into machine and unload clean dishes and equipment into specified dispenser and store in proper location

  • Empty, clean and sanitize tray and service cart

  • Maintain clean, organized and sanitary work area and equipment according to ServSafe and other regulatory agency standard of practice

  • Handle food in a safe manner assuring customer are not exposed to food borne illness

  • Use safe food handling technique in the preparation, service and transport of service ware, and in the delivery of food and beverage

  • Work with food product in a manner that optimize correct handling, temperature and storage standard

  • Rotate and stock food and beverage according to standard

  • Ability to read order ticket, screen, cash register, monitor and record temperature

  • Take customers order, operate cash register, buses table, prep food, take phone order and provide espresso coffee service

  • Adhere to all policy and procedure

  • Deliver, set up, service and clean up catering service in a timely manner according to standard and customer expectation/request

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Valid Oregon Food Handlers Certificate or ServSafe Certification at the time of hire

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • One (1) year of experience in retail dining or patient dining with emphasis on customer service and food handling

  • One (1) year of computer experience, patient interaction, and food service experience

  • One (1) year of experience in Healthcare or Dietary kitchen using 'therapeutic diets'

  • One (1) year of cashiering experience

  • One (1) year of barista experience

  • Experience in healthcare facility or large food service operation
