Providence Health & Services Monitor Technician - Cardiac Telemetry in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Monitor Technician - Cardiac Telemetry (0.9 FTE, Nights) to Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR
We are seeking a Monitor Technician - Cardiac Telemetry that will be under the supervision and delegation of the Registered Nurse, has the responsibility for monitoring, documenting, and reporting the ECG activity of patients on the telemetry unit. The position is an important communication link with the RN regarding changes in cardiac rhythms.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Observe patients' rhythms continuously
Identify and interpret dysrhythmias accurately and responds according to set standards
Keep the RNs informed of rhythm changes and consistently communicate per established protocols
Post strips on all critical, life-threatening dysrhythmias
Implement the monitor standard settings and alarms on all patients on admission and as directed by the RN
Report significant events and gives a concise summary to oncoming RNs and MTs at change of shift
Document and measure ECG intervals (PR, QRS, QT) once per shift and when rhythm changes occur
Post intervals and rhythm strips on patient's chart
Maintain the telemetry log
Notify the RN if the patient is off the monitor
Inform staff of resuscitation status and who is off unit by flagging the central monitor according to unit procedure
Maintain telemetry supplies and equipment
Follow all telemetry and communication processes per standards
Program all pagers at beginning of shift and RN assignments
Program Data - Critical paging on all new patients during shift to primary RN, the Buddy and the charge RN pager
Clean all telemetry boxes when returned to room with antibacterial cloth
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma -OR- GED
Coursework/Training: Satisfactory completion of a Medical terminology course. -OR- equivalent educ/experience
Coursework/Training: Completion of a basic ECG course, -OR- completion within 30 days of hire
Effective problem-solving skills
Effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills
Able to monitor multiple patient rhythms accurately
Ability to work with minimal supervision
