Patient Financial Counselor- HH HIM - Portland, Oregon

Schedule: 8am-4:30pm, M-F with rotating weekends.

Reporting to Portland, Oregon Halsey Home Health building, but facilitating care for all home health regions in the state of Oregon.

The Home Health Insurance Specialist facilitates requests for insurance authorization for Home Health patients. Reviews cases on admission and throughout the home health certification to determine authorization needs of the patient receiving home health services. The goal of the position is to facilitate comprehensive patient management by ensuring all services to be provided are covered for reimbursement. These efforts enhance customer service to payers and patients with a single point of contact.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Educational coursework in medical terminology or Equivalent knowledge acquired through on-the job-experience.

  • In compliance with the Providence Health and Services-OR Human Resources policy #302 Background Checks, a criminal background check is required for this position, based on assigned duties upon hire.

  • 2 years Recent experience in health care billing/insurance, unit secretary or related experience in a clinical setting or home services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

About the Team

Providence Home and Community Care (HCC) is a service line within Providence with over 8,000 caregivers and 2,000 volunteers serving nearly 200,000 people a year, in their homes, in clinics and in a variety of congregate living ministries across our seven-state footprint.

HCC provides a full range of services and support for people of all ages, especially those facing chronic or life-limiting illnesses.
