We are seeking a Pediatric Care Techician - Pediatrics Operating Room that will function as a member of the surgical team under the direct supervision of a registered perioperative nurse. Supports the anesthesia providers by the preparation and set up of appropriate equipment and supplies for each surgical case. This includes connecting monitoring lines, preparing infusion sets, and operating all common physiological monitors. The incumbent must be able to apply several specialized tests. May provide limited patient care as needed by assisting with prepping and opening supplies before surgery.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Assist with patient care as directed by RN including assisting with patient admission, care, transfer, and discharge
Assist RN to provide appropriate environment, equipment, transport devices, and supplies according to age, size, weight and condition of patient
Report all observations concerning patients to RN.
Assist the anesthesia provider with patient airway management on a routine or emergent basis by assisting with flexible bronchoscopy
Perform anesthesia changeovers: i.e. changes breathing circuit, masks, bags, laryngeal masks and laryngoscope blades.
Ensure that all non-schedule medications and supplies are available to the anesthesia provider for each case.
Keep a constant inventory of all medications, IV solutions, inhalation anesthetics, and other expendable supplies and ensure accessibility for providers within regulatory compliance standards.
Order and organize forms and maintain stock levels.
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Current BLS required at time of hire.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) for Health Care Provider certification required within 6 months of hire
Two (2) years current experience as an OR or ER Technician, CNA, Perioperative Aide or equivalent.
Experience with hospital equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
