We are seeking a Perioperative Aide 2 - Surgical Services that will assist in the OR function, by assisting the anesthesia provider, by cleaning and preparing operating rooms, safely transporting patients, retrieving and decontaminating equipment, stocking general supplies in the operating rooms and work room, processing and maintaining equipment, supplies, instruments, and other related equipment as needed.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Assist with patient care as directed by RN. This may include transporting patients, assisting with patient admission, care, transfer, and discharge
Assist RN to provide appropriate environment, equipment, transport devices, and supplies according to age, size, weight and condition of patient
Report all observations concerning patients to RN
Utilize infection control principles
Maintain orderly, clean, safe environment, may utilize Aseptic Technique, while performing duties
Support department as needed by ordering and organization of forms, and by maintaining stock levels in sterile core environment
Support department as needed by assisting with change-over activities, picking and staging case carts, to include necessary instruments, sutures and equipment, decontaminating instruments/ equipment, ordering supplies associated with decontamination, and by supporting the OR with the wash and save process
Assist with orientation of perioperative assistants and new employees as requested
Assist with core responsibilities
Position requires: Must possess a practical knowledge of instruments, sutures and sterile technique
Perform anesthesia changeovers: i.e. changes breathing circuit, masks, bags, laryngeal masks and laryngoscope blades
Demonstrate commitment to teamwork, by contributing to the team to meet department needs, offering assistance to others, carrying fair share of the workload, and coordinating patient care with other members of the team
Contribute to resolving conflict. Utilizes problem-solving skills to promote a positive work environment and seeks assistance in resolving conflict when needed
Demonstrate department accountability; contributes to and attends department staff and/or education meetings; participates in Department projects or committees; uses downtime productively
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma -OR- GED or equivilant education/experience
Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the orientation period
One (1) year clinical experience in an accredited hospital with operating room experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Anesthesia experience
