We are seeking a Referral Coordinator - Pmg Referral Operations who will be responsible for the documentation and implementation of policies and procedures relating to the Medical Management Process. This position serves as a resource to PMG providers and staff in regard to referral requirements for contracted insurance carriers, confirms contracted status of requested specialist or provides alternative suggestions if the requested specialist is not contracted with the patients insurance plan. This position represents the first line of communication with physicians and the office staff. This position receives all pertinent referral information and forwards requests to the insurance plan through different electronic mediums (fax, web-based applications and telephone) as indicated. This position is also required to review referrals for basic elements and refer to appropriate staff. This position supports phone queues as assigned, i.e. Physician Answer Line, Bridge Access Line.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Coordinate the referral management process for assigned clinic(s), which includes responding to provider referral calls, determining and relaying benefit information as it relates to referral processing
Obtain pre-certification/authorization from insurance companies, including extensions requested by physicians
Answer patient questions regarding surgical procedures, testing, referrals to specialists, etc.
Process all paperwork related to PMG Medical Management Program
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Two (2) years of working experience in a medical clinic
Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding
Knowledge of insurance billing and managed care
Data processing skills, such as, word processing
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Two (2) years of medical Assistant experience
