We are seeking a Registered Nurse ECMO Coordinator - Intensive Care Unit that will work in conjunction with CCS Nurse Management ECMO medical director and CCS medical director to provide clinical oversight and general overall program coordination at Providence Portland Medical Center. They foster an environment of learning, open communication, research and team collaboration for the CCS unit and ECMO program. The ECMO coordinator develops, provides and manages initial and ongoing education for ECMO Specialists and RN's.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Employ Nursing Professional Practice: Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patients’ care. Develop, update and coordinate the patient’s plan of care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes and transitions across the care continuum. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Performs and maintains currency of essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and populations served
Advocate: Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights, values and beliefs of those we serve
Facilitate Learning: Fosters a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team including students; facilitates formal and informal learning for patient/families, nursing, other members of the healthcare team, and community
Align Practice with Safety and Quality: Accountable for safety, identify and corrects problems, and integrate evidence, and best practice into nursing care; use data and evidence to improve patient outcomes. Align patient safety, self-safety and environmental safety as equally important for best outcomes
Engage in Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development; practice to the top of license within the legal parameters of the Nurse Practice Act, the Nursing Social Policy Statement, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and specialty standards. Promotes a culture of inquiry that explores, integrate and disseminate research and evidence based practice
Lead in the Practice Setting & Community: Leads and coordinates teams, appropriately delegates, coordinates care and collaborates with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge. Models professional behaviors as a representative of the nursing profession
Assist in establishing goals, policies and procedures to facilitate the operation of the education in the department
Ensure that education activities and offerings are consistent with local and national standards and accrediting bodies
Promote consistent education standards across the Portland Service area
Provide input to the management teams regarding individual staff orientation, development and performance
Assume responsibility and or authority to develop education, systems, and structures to promote/achieve nursing leadership team objectives
Design evaluation strategies to assess success of educational activities
Utilize a variety of teaching strategies as appropriate to educational goals
Assure that educational programs are integrated with quality and operations concepts and activities
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire
Bachelor's Degree OR higher within 3 years of hire OR equivalent education/experience
Two (2) years Acute critical care experience working with the patient population similar to department of hire or completion of the specialty residency locate at that facility
1 year ECMO Experience
Unencumbered RN license in state(s) of hire, and wherever care is delivered. If RN holds a multi-state license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (BLS Provider) upon hire
Caregivers who are Float/Resource Pool RNs are expected to possess/obtain the required certifications for all units in which they provide care
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) must be from American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)/American Heart Association (AHA)
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) must be from Emergency Nurses Association (ENA)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
