Providence is calling a RN - Clinical Education Coordinator - Nursing Service Administration (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Education Coordinator - Nursing Service Administration who will foster a climate of life-long learning, promote organizational values, supports creative and critical thinking and a climate that facilitates change, open communication, adult learning, collaborative relationships, and professional growth. The Clinical Nurse Educator will develop, coordinate, and evaluate educational programs for the orientation and work force development of staff within the Department of Nursing
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Create a climate of open communication and trust conducive to the educational development of caregivers within the Department of Nursing
Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with nursing caregivers, the Nursing Management Leadership Team, and other departments/disciplines
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and Patient Care Services and the regional/system clinical education partners to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate nursing orientation, residency and new graduate programs
Assist in assessing learning needs and establishing goals for the education and development of nursing caregivers. Perform an annual needs assessment for their respective area of influence. Based on evaluations of educational programs, current practices, and/or procedural changes, revises and updates programs as appropriate
Utilize expert knowledge of teaching/learning theories in the planning, execution, and evaluation of educational programs
Assist nursing leaders with the identification and development of Preceptors
Promote and model systematic inquiry, integration of research and practice, clinical judgment, and generation of knowledge into educational programs and practice
Develop, coordinate and evaluate, curriculum/content for to promote scholarly practice in nursing
Contribute creative and innovative ideas and in forecasting nursing education strategies in support of top docile performance and clinical outcomes
Teach and coach staff, preceptors and other caregivers
Ensure that education activities are consistent with local and national standards and accrediting bodies
Knowledgeable about policies, procedures, and standards of care (e.g., bundles, best practices, etc.)
Promote a positive attitude toward change and wellness
Participate on work groups and committees to address educational needs and planning
Act as a role model to staff in interpersonal communication, professionalism, and as a representative of the Department of Nursing Leadership Team
Maintain current knowledge in the education and staff development through ongoing education
Engage managers and the unit-based preceptor in on-going development and operationalization of education initiatives including competency validation
Work with hospital and regional leadership, as well as, schools of nursing to assure excellence in clinical experiences of students
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Master's Degree in Nursing -OR- related field
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Oregon State Board of Nursing
Five (5) years of current clinical and/or educational experience in Nursing
At least one year of recent Critical Care RN experience
Advanced Certification in Critical Care
