Providence Health & Services RN - Infection Preventionist in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse - Infection Preventionist to Providence Groth Building in Portland, OR.
This position will be involved with providing Infection Prevention services to Providence Medical Group (PMG) clinics throughout the Oregon Region. This is a brand new role within Providence's Infection Prevention team and is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Director of Infection Prevention in the development of this new Infection Prevention service. The Infection Prevention RN needs to be self-motivated, have spectacular problem solving, organization, and analytical skills and has a great ability to develop and foster key relationships with a large group of leaders.
The Infection Prevention Nurse will:
Act as an agent of change and participate in the change process.
Assist with leading the organization's infection prevention and control improvement activities.
Develop regional standardized policies, procedures, standards, protocols, and evidence-based best practices in conjunction with physicians and infection control staff.
Align, evaluate and revise infection prevention plans with results of infection risk assessments.
Evaluate as identified by regulatory agencies (i.e. TJC, CMS, etc.), the effectiveness of the surveillance plan and modify as necessary. Maintain knowledge of current infection prevention trends, best practices, and collaborate with National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), reporting healthcare infections using defined CDC criteria.
Be accountable for the development, implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive regional and specific facility/ies Infection Prevention (IP) program.
Work in collaboration with IP program director, IP medical director, and IP peers follow all current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Provide and supervise professional, independent infection prevention care.
Provide leadership and vision that supports collaborative planning and quality improvement in patient/employee safety while minimizing costs.

Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Current, unencumbered Oregon state Registered Nurse (RN) license
Certification in Infection Control or obtained within 2 years of hire
4 years of clinical experience
Knowledge of current microbiology, infectious diseases, antimicrobial therapy, immunizations, aseptic technique, and patient care practices
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree in nursing or public health
Working knowledge of national databases and/or programs
Knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistical methods and analysis of infection prevention and control data
Strong background in sterilization, disinfection and sanitation methods in a healthcare facility
Ambulatory nursing experience
